Gears of War – My Thoughts

Right, all the hype when this game came out, it lived up to it in my eyes to an extent… the game looked gorgeous, and played magnificently and I played it through and completed it, but the game didn’t grip me… it didn’t make me wanna go back and play it again n again like the halo series did, or even like Kameo did … lol.

I don’t know why but to be honest I can’t even bring myself to write much about the game, I thought it was a gorgeous game that played better then most console games I’ve ever played (and believe me … I’ve played a few of the fuckers) but unfortunately it lacked any major WOW! factor in my eyes and that let it down alot for me.

But I did get the special edition, which 2bh… is worth the little extra as the artbook shows just how much talent the game artists really have, its some incredible work.

Random Rant

Right, Cause I’ve not written anything for quite a little while like, I’m gonna write a few posts today, update you on some games and movies I’ve had joy with, and then the one thats pissed me off immensely again…that one god damn game that everyone raves on and on about, yet for some reason, I really REALLY !!! can’t get into it … Gears of Fuckin War … I don’t know why, I love games like that … but gears doesn’t push my buttons, it doesnt make me wanna drop trousers and please myself like some other games do (not literally, just shows how little Gears did for me, as anyone who really knows me knows how easy I drop my pants and beat one off – not literally again)

Anyway, first proper thing first, can I just say that George Carlin you will be missed by many. You will always be remembered as a pure comic genius, your rants are legendary and your quotes are there sticking in everyones minds for weeks if not years on end. I first heard of George bout 10 years ago and immediately fell in love with his work as its all true and fact but in the funniest possible manner, I remember one time a little piece of his about flame throwers that was so true and fuckin hillarious to listen to

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, “You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.”

George, you’re gonna be missed by all, you were a genius and your legacy will live on with us all. RIP Mr Carlin – 1937 – 2008

On a cheerier note … well not really cheerier, but on another note … I’ve nearly finished work on a really cool companies website … WOOOOO !! just waiting for their approval, due to the fact that there is probably someone out there who’d be willing to sue me for giving out company names, i won’t I’ll just say, they sell scooters and stuff, and I built them a shop … it looks rather cool if I do say so myself, and its rather Italian themed, I just finished a clothes shop, an antiques website and accountancy website last week too, so I’m on a roll of late … makes a change really

Other than that, lifes still going on as life does … slow and painful at times with the odd intervention of alcohol to brighten the day.

Anyway, enough bout me… check out other posts for my personal opinions on movies I’ve recently watched and games I’ve been playing or reading alot about lately.

Guitar Hero 4 – Preview

 

According to the new Game Informer article, the successor of Guitar Hero 3 will include:

- Create a song. Although these exclude vocals due to storage and possible copyright issues.
- You’ll be able to name your song as well as create album art. After you’ve done all that you can upload it to GH Tunes where anyone can download it.
- You’ll be limited to 5 songs at first. But depending on the ratings you get you’ll possibly be able to upload 10 or more.
- The song sharing mode will be in the Wii and PS2 versions also, but GI says it’s unlikely that it’ll be as robust as the PS3 and 360 versions.
- Drums, bass, vocals guitar
- Create a rocker
- Create a guitar and drums
- All songs will be master tracks
- They don’t want to discuss specifics on track listing out of fear of being scooped by the competition. However they confirmed 4 bands: Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime.
- A new guitar designed by Red Octane that includes a new input mechanic that’ll “impact the way you play GH in the future”.
- GI saw see through notes while playing that Neversoft said was the new input mechanic and that they were trying to patent.

Whoa, I didn’t expect a create-a-song option. The instruments were expected but all master tracks? That’s impressive.

Theres alot of rumours surrounding Guitar Hero 4 … and as usual alot revolve around the song list, with many people saying that the makers are planning on adding song from heavier bands with great guitars such as Dragonforce, Children of Bodom, Slayer etc… but the one thing that will put them off this is the vocal lines, if a person can actually sing as well as Z.P.Threat of Dragonforce, or Alexi Laiho of Children of Bodom… why exactly aren’t they in a band touring the world making millions.

This has already been proven in Rock Band … the songs become a little bit more limited with the addition of vocals into the mix as before hand, you could have songs like Slayers, Raining Blood, and the likes, because you didn’t need someone to hit vocals like that, then you get to Rock Band, and none of the original tracks have that rawr factor. But then, thanks to the wonders of downloadable content, your able to download heavier songs, and I suppose that makes it better, it just also means that you need a few throat lozenges at your side for when you’re done with the songs.

I’m hoping that the create your own setup is extended a bit further then on Rock Band, I mean … that was good and for first time we could have a guy looking like ourselves (if you have hair like one of the presets etc…) but why don’t they put in that extra bit of work on it and push it to be more like an Oblivion or WWE create your own character setup, yea…alot of options, but god it was worth it.

I seriously can’t wait for Guitar Hero 4, being one of these guys whose currently bought every one out, and preordered Rock Band the second I was able to, I love these music games and now with Guitar Hero 4’s create your own song, OMFG. Its gonna be EPIC

Superhero Movie

Well … I watched that superhero movie a couple days ago and to be honest … they didnt seem to exactly put in much effort. It has its moments, like right at the opening where Rick runs for the bus, then runs into the wing mirror, then the stop sign, then the doors open up into him … thats probably as good as it gets, well theres good bits in the laboratory too…but I honestly I didn’t think that they used all of the other superhero movies as good as what they could have done.

The movie can make you laugh lots, its got the ability too, but if you’ve already watched every other spoof movie thats been released then you’ll probably not laugh as much. There are movies such as Epic Movie, Date Movie, and Meet the Spartans which really let the spoof genre down, then you’ve got movies like airplane, naked guns, not another teen movie and scary movie that really are a class apart….but to me this sits in the middle … maybe thats a little bit harsh when you look at the likes of EM, DM and MtS… as its alot better then they are, just to me it doesn’t have that killer spoof comedy catch that the others have.

The acting wasn’t that bad to be honest, and the work into the film was good, it was just let down by a little little bit of a poor script… I’m not saying it was crap… just like… it was a bit too similar to spiderman … yet it was meant to be a cross between all of the superhero movies… The input of the fantastic four was barely there, there was very little input from other movies other then Spiderman, thats all of which there really was, it was like … spiderman reasoning for person getting powers, spiderman reason for evil coming along, spiderman powers pretty much, it seemed like all spiderman yet its meant to have been a cross from everything from the hulk, to fantastic four, to superman and batman, i only really remember a tiny bit of the FF and alot of Spiderman, i cant remember much from the others.

Overall it wasn’t a bad movie but they could have done sooooo much more … alot lot more, specially with all of the superhero movies that are out there now… to be honest if theres a sequel then they’d better put in alot more effort, otherwise it won’t be worth it at all.

I’d give it like a 7….maybe a 7.5 outta 10 … but thats it, and I was wanting SO much more from a superhero spoof.

First Post

Right, so this is the first post of this new weblog I’ve just made… and well… its gonna be interesting to say the least to see how much I keep this up. Anyway, this first post is just gonna be alot of random rambling crap about me and stuff like that.

Well first of all I’m a web designer and developer in Blackpool, England… not exactly glamorous but its good enough to keep me going… o and can I just add; if anybody reads this and doesn’t like what I write or anything, then I’m not too arsed… its an online journal effort thing… its not private but I couldn’t really care less if you take offense to something I write.

I’m a HUGE!! lover of all things video game like… playing them, the making of them, the stories behind them… it’s something I’ve always been into and I’ve gone through pretty much every console going… lol… well… and I still own the majority of the majority… I love all sorts of games and well… I’d love to make them one day.

Right am gonna stop rambling now and am gonna get back to work… gotta get this site sorted by noon tonight so that we can get it signed off and get some moneys for it… So yea… enjoy the resta your day.
